These are our relics from the celebrity couple who were banned from paradise. Adam is an 18k gold fig leaf with a sophisticated ‘silk’ surface texture created by meticulously scratching the surface hundreds of times over by hand, and with a high-relief leaf vein. The back and sides of the leaf are high-gloss for added contrast and shape. Eve is an amethyst apple carved exclusively for Francis de Lara by our lapidary in London. The apple is not a perfect sphere, and even has the dimple at the bottom, to mimic a real apple form. It hangs from linked apple stems and is complete with a ‘silk’ textured leaf, all of 18k gold. Adam & Eve can be bought as an asymmetric pair, as I envision, or as two ‘Adams’ or two ‘Eves’, (£5,900 per pair, or £2,950 per individual piece). Eve can be carved in other stones upon request, and price will vary. As these pieces are handmade and Francis de Lara pieces are made to look like well preserved artefacts rather than brand new pieces, slight ‘imperfections’ are actually part of the personality of the piece: scratches, matte and discolouration areas, and inclusions in some stones.
